A MAN'S body has been discovered on the beach at Totland this morning (Monday).

A cordon is in place close to Totland pier while emergency crews recover the body.

The body was discovered on rocks close to Fort Warden Road, earlier this morning.

Police, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Coastguard are in attendance.

A police spokesperson told the County Press this morning: "We were called at 8.10am this morning after the body of a man aged in his forties was discovered on the beach at Totland.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and to contact the man’s family."

UPDATE: 13:00

Police have said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "Enquiries are ongoing to contact the man’s family.

"A file will be prepared for the coroner in due course."
