Sandown, Isle of Wight, United Kingdom
Funded on Thursday, 20th April 2017

    Story

What do you do with an 11lb jar of pickled onions. Hold a contest for extreme athletes to eat them of course. And raise funds for The Soup Kitchen and Stupini Kids at the same time.

Other people that do charity work generally jump out of aeroplanes, climb Mount Kilimanjaro, run 26 mile marathons or abseil buildings of tremendous heights.

We however will be sitting in a bar, battling it out against 9 other brave souls to find out who can consume the most pickled onions.

The The Pop Up Soup Kitchens aim is to take Food Warmth and Provisions to the Homeless and Help the Less Fortunate Members of the Community of The Isle of Wight.

Stupini Kids is an Isle of Wight based charity that support a centre for deprived children in Romania, centred around an annual delivery of donated clothing, food and other basic goods from the IOW to Brasov.

Sponsorship money donated here via JustGiving and funds donated in person at the event and via sponsorship direct to athletes will be evenly split between the two charities.

If you would like more information about the charities please send us a message and we will do our best to answer them.

PS. You can donate to any athlete via this page. If you wish to be specific, include your champion in your message.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you very to all if you who donated. We will be totalling all donations next week but we raised over £600 on the day and we think we have raised well over £1200 in cash sponsorship. We may well crack £2000. Thanks again

I knew a man who ate 114 pickled onions at Christmas dinner and because of the acidity in them, messed with his brain and he now thinks he's a door handle. Good luck though mate, see you soon 😄👍🏻
