Why this petition matters

Started by Sally Perry

Former WWII pilot, Mary Ellis, is one of the last surviving pilots of the Air Transport Auxiliary.

Mary achieved an impressive record of aircraft flown, over 1,000 during the second world war, including over 400 Spitfires and Seafires.

On 2nd February Mary celebrated her 100th birthday. We the undersigned believe that Mary should be given Freedom of the Island in honour of her service to the country.
