Finals day two in sunny Sheffield

In
the semi-finals 3/4 seed Meh Shah (Middlesex) booked her
place in this afternoon's final without dropping a game in the
tournament by beating Charlie McCrone three love in the first
semi-final.
The impressive number one seed Amelie Haworth brought
unseeded Francesca Hall's run to an end winning in straight
games in the semi-final and took the Girls Under 11 title with
an outstanding game of squash defeating Shah 3-0 in 13 minutes.
Boys' top seed Abd-Allah Essa progressed to the final by
beating unseeded Alex Banidal in the semi-final while Jonah
Bryant who beat the second seed Yusf Shelkh in yesterday's
quarter final registered another three love win against 3/4 seed
Harry Bloomfield.
Both boy finalists reached the final without dropping a single
games but Bryant was dominant thought the final in thought and
movement, playing with maturity well beyond is tender age and
won the match 11/3 11/3 11/2 in 17 minutes to take the title of
English Under 11 champion 2016.
Both the Girls and Boys winners showed exceptional skill and
impeccable in their behaviour both on and off court.
Day ONE:
This year Hallamshire Lawn Tennis and Squash Club is
hosting The English under 11 Championship.
The first day of the competition displayed excellent
sportsmanship in both the boys & girls events and many upsets to
the seedings.
In the girls event unseeded players Fancesca Hall
(Yorkshire) & Sophia Lee (Warwickshire) knocked out high seeded
players & met in the quarter finals with Francesca taking the
match 3-0. Francesa now faces the number one seed Amelie
Haworth (Hampshire) in the semi finals on Sunday.
Charlie McCrone (Lancashire) has had an extremely
impressive tournament by both knocking out the number two seed
and demonstrating exceptional fair play.
In the boys event Jonah Bryant (Sussex) has upset the
seedings by beating all his opponents 3-0 & taking out the
number two seed to play in the semi- finals Sunday.
The unseeded Alex Banhidai (Essex) has had a very
impressive tournament so far by beating seeded players
throughout & in the quarter finals fought hard against Alexander
Broadbridge (Hampshire) to win 3-2. Alexander had previously
upset the seedings by beating the number 3/4 seed. |
