Special Olympics Isle of Wight have commenced their outdoor season with the South East Regional Athletics competition in Eastbourne on Sunday 1st May.

An outdoor debut for Ross Eglinton, a newcomer at the end of last season, saw him achieve silver in his 800m race, and a valiant fourth position in his 400m race – both against a very tough middle-distance field, with athletes from Kent and Surrey giving tough competition. He also joined with his teammates for his first 4x100m relay.

Gold for Beane
Sarah Beane had a fantastic competition, achieving gold in her long jump division, beating all of her jumps from last season to reach 2.08m and snatching bronze for her 100m race.
