Clean Streets & Parks - Dog Poo has gone to far

The Problem

This is a growing problem, the abundance of dog excrement found in East Cowes and island wide is alarming, its covered in the streets, thrown in our gardens, littered along our footpaths, leading in to our schools, Nurserys and Homes.

150 to 200 people have interacted on a Facebook awareness advertisement, they have expressed the same level of concern of this growing problem.

I have children who have stepped or landed in Dog faeces consistently over the past few years, and more and more, every week or so more recently as the evenings have become darker in east cowes.

I contacted the Principal Waste Contract Officer at the isle of wight Council in 2013, advising they didn't have the finances or resources to police the problem, the council, the enforcement officers seem to have drifted in to an apathetic stance on the matter, which is manifesting itself on to our streets in a version of Dog excrement.

There is no consequence for irresponsible dog owners that have become complacent and think it is now acceptable to let your dog foul in streets, parks, peoples gardens, without cleaning it up.

I care that everyone, especially our children deserve to walk streets, play in our parks, go to and from school, without the dangerous and constant affair of stepping or landed in dog poo.

The Benefits

Prevents Childblindness, Prevents Toxocariasis or other ilnesses , avoids constant cleaning of your clothes.

Raises our community standard of living, keeping clean streets and parks, for eveyone now and leads an example to our children to keep it that way in the future

The Solution

The purpose of this petition is to put pressure on the council to have some enforcement in areas that have the worst of the problem, along with funding for more awareness and marketing to educate dog owners and highlight the concern of the community as much as possible.

Increase pressure on Council to provide policing and real enforcement, that will lead to  more prosecutions, along with  and Educational Marketing material, posters etc

Raise Awareness, educate to irresponsible dog owners, and demonstrate its unacceptable.
