Ryde Arena: Creditors’ meeting called as company heads into liquidation

Alan Limb from BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency has been in touch following the closure of Ryde Arena.

The Southampton Office of BRI Business Recovery and Insolvency have been instructed by the Directors of Ryde Arena Limited to assist them in placing the Company into Creditors’ Voluntary
Liquidation.

Just a couple of weeks ago, hundreds formed a human link around the ice rink in order to protest at its closure.

However, the Directors say they do not believe the company it will be able to trade again.

Creditors’ meeting
The Liquidation will begin following a meeting of the Company’s Creditors which will be held at Ryde Castle Hotel at 1.15pm on Thursday 17th November 2016.

BRI’s Licensed Insolvency Practitioner and Island resident, Alan Limb, said,

“The Directors were introduced to us for help after the Company’s Landlord forfeited its lease on 6th October 2016. The Company has been unable to trade since then.

“The Directors have taken the decision to place the Company into Liquidation because they do not believe that it will be able to trade again.”

No refunds for advance bookings
Alan goes on to explain that company are unable to offer refunds for items paid for in advance,

“Some customers of the Company have bought tickets for shows at Ryde Arena which will not now take place. Other customers have paid in advance for skating vouchers and lessons which the Company will not now be able to honour. The Company is unable to offer refunds to these customers.”

Go direct to ‘The Price is Wight’
He goes on to say,

“Many of these tickets, vouchers and lessons were sold through the website, The Price is Wight. Customers affected in this way should contact The Price is Wight to see if a refund is possible.

“Customers who paid for tickets, vouchers or lessons using their Credit or Debit card should also contact their card provider to request a refund.”
