Niton and Whitwell’s community minibus has been launched successfully – in spite of a last-minute decision by Island Roads to dig up part of the route.
The “NitWhit Bus” shuttle service between the villages and Ventnor on Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings – underwritten by the parish council and operated by Minibus-Plus – fills gaps in Southern Vectis’s winter timetable and operates on a “hail and ride” basis. Parish councillor Jon Young said:
“It was a bit of a blow when Island Roads turned up to resurface Kemming Road with almost no notice, but our friends at Minibus-Plus coped admirably with the necessary diversion.”
