Isle of Wight JSA claimant numbers for August 2015 released

Figures came out today for unemployed claimants which show that 1,172 people in the Isle of Wight area were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in August 2015.

Unemployment Benefit figures released by the Office for National Statistics show a slight fall of 40 since July 2015, which reported 1,212 JSA claimants, and a large fall of 330 from August 2014 (1,502).

Of this month’s total, 793 applicants were male (slightly down 32 on last month, considerably down 193 on this time last year) and 379 female, (slightly down 8 on last month, considerably down 137 on this time last year).

The percentage rate of persons claiming JSA for the Isle of Wight region in August 2015 was 0.01%, based on 1,172 claimants and population all aged 16 & over of 9,396,700 (Jan 2004-Dec 2004 figure).
