Isle of Wight JSA claimant numbers released

Figures for unemployed claimants came out this morning which show that 1,218 people on the Isle of Wight were claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in September.

Unemployment Benefit figures released by the Office for National Statistics show an increase of 46 since August, which reported 1,172 JSA claimants, and a fall of 254 from September 2014 (1,472).

That means 1.5% of the resident population of area aged 16-64 is claiming JSA – 0.5% more than the rest of the South East (1%), and 0.1% less than the whole of the UK (1.6%).
