Kid Creole & The Coconuts @ Féstival Montagne et Musique – Palaiseau (F) – 29.09.2012

Féstival Montagne & Musique – Festival Mountain & Music @ Palaiseau, France.  Where is Palaiseau? If you search for  this small town in any mountain region you will not find it. It is located in the Paris region. Loveley town with a flair and attitude more like in the South of France. This splendid feast is in devotion to the alpine region of High Savoy with food-specialties of the region  and the profit is donated to a help-association for children affected of mucoviscidosis, leukemia or cancer to attend the region in a special station for rehabilitation and progress, specially by doing winter-sports. Great!  The sponsor Cocktail Scandinave was even organizing free concerts, one of them was with Kid Creole & The Coconuts.

Tio Pepe were the special guest this evening. They were starting by ‘Casa de Ines’. El Tio, in normal life  called Antoine Ruiz, on vocals and second keyboards as big chief was animating with success the festival visitors by his charismatic voice to sing along, dance or just pure pleasure by enjoying the music and they followed his calls. Their music a very unique conglomerate of rock, latino, tango and chanson.  Latino inspirations specially by the brilliant keyboard-solos of Remy del Castillo.  Flamenco and Mariachi elements were integrated by the guitar and trumpet solos. ‘Indian Parade’ was their most especial musical song. By ‘Zorro’ with buffing rhythms in enshrinement to the hero they concluded their acclaimed show  Tio Pepe live a hottest, spicy chilli con carne.

By the intro of ‘Banana Boat Song’ by Harry Belafonte the most excellent KC band were called on stage, inclusive Kid’s longtime musical fellow ‚Bongo‘ Eddie Folk on percussion and vocals. He was calling Kid Creole aka August Darnell supported by heavy applause on stage. August was first dressed in a smart violet suit and first danced across the stage by the calypso rhythms. It was his pleasure to call his darlings The Coconuts on stage.  Vow what a glance by the thee beauties. Hey they were not only good-looking and dressed hot as hell, but they could sing. Specially Eva Tudor Jones aka Mamma Coconut as their leader, Sara and Jessica had thrilling voices from tender, very sweet to rockin’. In the midst of the gig Kid took a little pause and left the micro for little-school-girlie Elvira Jones as extra-chanteuse to construe with rollin’ ‘My Boy Lollipop’. Kick-ass, specially also by the verstile guitar-solos of Jamie. Bongo had his big-appearance as the blues-man by ‘Sweet Home Chicago’. He was very elegant that night dressed in a turquoise suit. Mr. Creole joked that Bongo had developed from tiny, slim, little ape-baby to a fat guy, haha… The most anticipated song-highlights were the hit ‘Annie I’M Not Your Daddy’ and the funkin’ groovy ‘Stool-Pigeon’-Jam. The finale was by the capping solos of the Pondlife-Horns together with chanting Mr. Darnell. Kid waved good-bye, very amused by the ravishing fan-applause and the whole band bowed down as last final stand. The
fans went on their way home very satisfied & highly delighted.
