Charity auction for autistic artists

Thanks to Krissy from the Way Forward Programme for sharing detail about this upcoming auction. Ed

It’s being staged by the Way Forward Programme, a local charity which supports people with physical and learning disabilities.

Artwork for auction:All the artists take part in workshops run from the charities out-reach project at the West Wight Sports Centre in Freshwater, and many of the pieces have already featured in exhibitions across the Island.

Programme Lead, Lee White explains,

“Art is a fantastic medium for those with autism to express their thoughts and feelings.

“Through the exhibitions and now the art auction we are also enabling them to become self-employed through the sale of their work.”

75% of the proceeds will go to the artists, with the remainder going to the charity to ensure it can continue to run the art programme.

Where and when
The auction is being held on Wednesday 9th October at the Inn on the Green, at Newclose Cricket Ground. Doors open at 7pm. The auction starts at 7.30pm, with Island Auction Rooms coming to call.
