Islander David Peek played in Four Nations Curling contest

Congratulations to David Peek, who at the beginning of the year heard the news that he’d been selected to play for Wales in the recent Four Nations curling contest.

David was born on the Isle of Wight and went to what was then St. Wilfred’s Primary in Ventnor. He’s been living in Manchester for nearly three years and works as a Broadcast Journalist at a local radio station in Greater Manchester.

Interest sparked at Winter Olympics
David tells us that he took up curling after the 2010 Winter Olympics, with his nearest rink being at Queensferry in North Wales (apparently there is only one in England, at Tonbridge Wells in Kent).

He was asked to play for Wales in the Four Nations curling event in Ayr, which took place at the weekend and saw Wales take home three trophies.

Whilst he’s not working, David is also the Webmaster for Welsh Curling Website and as he studied for his MA in Radio at Glamorgan University in Cardiff, he does have another connection to the country.

Best of luck with future events David, we’re keen to hear how things go.
