Druid:

Druid drops into Bembridge Library to read poems

Many thanks to Richard Beet for sharing this with OnTheWight readers. Ed

A Druid took time out from her summer celebrations to visit Bembridge Community Library last Friday to perform some poetry readings during the library’s first ever Summer Solstice Afternoon Tea organised by Liz Mitchell, with the help of Bill Wyke, Nikki Millett and Tricia Lawrence.

Glynis Cunliffe and the Bembridge Recorder Consort provided the relaxing background music.

Funds raised for the library
The ‘druid’, aka library volunteer Ann Proudfoot, delighted her audience during the fund-raising event which overall raised more than £135 for library funds from the sale of teas, cakes, scones as well as from a bric-a-brac stall.

Said Chris Brennan, lead volunteer at the library:

“The afternoon was hugely successful, and the Community Room was transformed into a lovely tearoom with tablecloths and posies. It was a great atmosphere thanks to the hard work of all involved.”
