Entries are gathering pace ahead of this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week (3-10 August). For those still considering their plans for the summer, this year’s event will offer a packed race schedule with something for everyone, and there are plenty of ways, regardless of ability, to get involved in the racing action.

Charter a boat
A One cost-effective option for sailors with the passion but not the tools is to charter a boat for either individual days or for the whole week. Britannia Corporate Events and Solent Events, the official charter suppliers to the regatta, both offer a comprehensive range of charter options for experienced sailors on a bareboat as well as for those newer to the sport on professionally skippered boats.

Britannia Events, through their relationship with Fairview Sailing, can also offer one-design racing within the new Fairview class, and Sunsail will again offer racing within their own dedicated class too.

Crew search
In addition to these options, the crew search forum is an invaluable tool on the event website which matches available crew with those boats searching for extra crew for the Week.

Sailors keen to take part in this year’s regatta are encouraged to submit their entry within the Early Bird discounted period which ends at midnight on Monday 27th May.

For anyone not sure about which boat or option would be best suited to them, Solent Events are holding an open day from Gunwharf Quays Marina in Portsmouth on Thursday 18th April where the available options can be explored.

Simon Hedley of Solent Events commented, “Between Solent Events and Britannia, we have unparalleled experience and knowledge of chartering and hospitality for this superb regatta. We welcome anyone to come and see us at our open day to chat over the possibilities and see a selection of the boats we can offer.”
