THIS photograph is believed to be of the junction of Horseshoe Lane and St Albans Road, taken before the North Orbital Road was built, writes M Clyde, of Watford.
The group of soldiers outside the building with the sign "Salters Fine Ales" suggest that it was taken during World War One. The cottages on the left carry the sign "S. Waterton, General Stores".
Perhaps this is a member of the family Mrs Warrington of Northampton was asking about in the newspaper of September 14, 2001.
Does anyone have any ideas about the flag flying over the door of the house on the left?
