HARLOW Colts fought for a 24-21 victory over Hertford Colts last weekend, and in the end it was Darron Dunn's injury time penalty kick that seperated the two teams.

Harlow, with several key players missing, took the lead when No.8 Ben Abbot collected Matt King's pass and crossed the line. Hertford punished some ill-discipline in the Harlow ranks with two well struck penalty kicks, but second row Nathan Cley restored the lead when he peeled off from a maul to score. Hertford quickly responded with a drop goal, and the half-time score was 10-9 to Harlow.

Early in the second half the young Rams extended their lead, this time with a superb individual effort by King. Once again, the visitors repsonded with a quick try.

Two penalties by Dunn soon restored Harlow's lead, only for the visitors to draw level with a converted try.

In a nervy final few minutes two penalties gave the Rams the chance to take the game. Dunn's first kick rebounded off the cross bar but his second sailed between the posts to leave a final score of 24-21.

Harlow's under-16s had to defend well in the away clash at Upminster but they stuck to their tasks well and ran out 7-0 winners. It was Harlow's No.8 who scored the game's sole try.

Braintree were the visitors for the under-13's fixture and found themselves in control from the start. The Junior Rams played with pride but couldn't hold back Braintree who emerged 45-0 winners.
