Undercliff Drive: No Further Action by Police

Just heard on IW Radio News that The Serious and Organised Crime Unit who have been investigating the Undercliff Drive scandal, whereby several senior officers were suspended have confirmed that there is insufficient evidence to take the matter further.

Isle of Wight Radio has learnt police have found there is “insufficient evidence” to support an ongoing investigation into complaints following the Undercliff Drive contract scandal. The Serious and Organised Crime Unit has confirmed it’s completed its enquiries into complaints of criminal activity and public sector corruption. Police say no-one was arrested during the investigation.

In a statement to Isle of Wight Radio, police say “Hampshire Constabulary has completed its enquiries into issues raised concerning contracts awarded by the Isle of Wight Council. The enquiries, led by the Serious and Organised Crime Unit, found that there is insufficient evidence to support a continued police investigation into complaints of criminal activity or public sector corruption. Hampshire Constabulary has therefore concluded its investigation. The Chief Executive of the Isle of Wight Council has been informed.”
