MP Asks Islanders To Fill In Online Ferry Questionnaire

MP Asks Islanders To Fill In Online Ferry QuestionnaireIsland MP Andrew Turner has today launched an online survey of Islanders and their use, or otherwise of cross-Solent ferry services.

He plans to use results of the survey to add weight to the application to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to a Competition Commission inquiry.

Help gather evidence
When the OFT gave their provisional “No” to an enquiry, they stated that they thought that there was ‘limited evidence of consumer detriment,” which translated into English means that not enough people had told them that they had a problem with the price of the ferry services.

The online survey is to gather the information from Islanders to show that people do have a problem with the ferry services and their charges.

By way of an inducement, there’s a chance of winning a £100 voucher for Amazon or Argos.

Hurry up!
The survey closes at midnight on 8 August, but don’t leave it until then for goodness sakes.

Mr Turner said, “This is a final push to try to persuade the OFT to recommend a full investigation by the Competition Commission.

“The cross-Solent ferries have not been properly looked at since 1991 and they have never been investigated under current legislation.

“This is everyone’s chance to help bring about a proper investigation to ensure that the ferry services are working for the benefit of the Island and Islanders.”

The survey can be found on Andrew Turner’s Website.
