Moonshiners Bring Hot Summer Blues To Brighstone Sizzler This Saturday

Four talented Island musicians are appearing together as new band The Moonshiners at Brighstone School’s Summer Sizzler this Saturday evening (3 July) to deliver what frontman Dave Hollis describes as “some stonkin’ blues plus a bit of Americana”.

Moonshiners Bring Hot Summer Blues To Brighstone Sizzler This SaturdayDave (on vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica) and his brother Tim (on bass guitar) have been with The Amen Boogie Blues Band for the past ten years, and recently played the Isle of Wight Festival acoustic stage as part of Whiskey River, gaining the coveted slot by winning the Live/Wired bands competition.

The Moonshiners’ drummer is Richard Wilson who also plays with the Folsom Prison Blues Band, and on lead guitar is Adrian Charlton, who regularly appears with The Contra Blues Band.

Dave is well known in Brighstone where he runs The Village Shop (intentional caps: that’s its name!). He says he’s delighted to be playing on home turf “giving Brighstone a good party for the locals”, and supporting the school that three generations of the Hollis family have attended (Dave and his brother went to Brighstone Primary, as did dad, and now his son).

Brighstone’s Summer Sizzler runs from 6pm on the school field.
