Green Gym Help Down At Medina Riverside Park

Volunteers from the IOW branch of The Green Gym have been flexing their biceps and donning their gardening gloves, this time laying hedges around the car park at the Medina Riverside Park at Dodnor. Working alongside the Island’s rangers and IoW College, the car park area (as you can see from the photo) the volunteers have helped transform the area.

Green Gym Rescue Medina Riverside ParkAnyone who knows Medina Riverside Park will agree that for years, it’s been a peaceful spot for those taking a break from the bustling Dodnor Industrial Estate (I mean the park, rather than the car park). Well now, with the help of a grant from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), it has been enhanced with some public art, a new bridge and two new dog bins (and of course the new car park fencing).

If you have a chance to walk through the Riverside Park, see if you can spot the several stone carvings that have been hidden in the leafy glades. Apparently, locals have already christened a sculpture of a lady with her feet in the water, ‘Bettina of the Medina’.
