John Brownscombe To Leave AONB Partnership

AONB On The WightNews reaches us this afternoon that AONB Lead Officer within the IOW AONB Partnership, John Brownscombe, has handed in his notice and will heading off to distant shores (well, the mainland).

John has held a pivotal role at the AONB over the last six years and his departure will be met with great sadness amongst his colleagues.

Tony Tutton of the National Trust told us …

“We’re really sorry to see John go. Being a local chap, he clearly had great knowledge of the area.

He’s been responsible for putting the AONB on the map, so to speak, but we do know that he’s happy to be leaving the project in a good state, ready for someone to take over.”

We hear that there is much interest in the role already, so it shouldn’t be hard to find a suitable replacement, although we hear they’d have to be pretty good to fill his boots.

John aims in his new role, as a self employed consultant, to continue his work in rural areas and hopes that he may be able to work again on the Wight, as he intends to continue living here.

We wish John the very best for his future. [Image of AONB Map courtesy of IOW AONB]
