Save Vestas Petition (With Links)

Save Vestas PetitionThe shocking news of Vestas’ 1900 layoffs in Northern Europe hit the headlines around the world this week and locally it’s expected that around 600 jobs on the Isle of Wight will go when Vestas closes it’s manufacturing plant in three months time.

It’s not hard to see what a massive blow to the Island economy that’s going to be, not just for those who currently work at Vestas but also through the knock on effect to those who supply Vestas.

Given that, it’s not surprising to read in the County Press today that a No.10 petition to help save the jobs has been created and a Save Vestas Facebook group is gathering pace with 1,024 members.

The petition has attracted just under 1,000 signatures to date and is growing steadily with Islanders being urged to pass links to the petition onto friends and family.
